2024 Confirmed as Warmest Year on Record
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has confirmed that 2024 was the warmest year on record, with global temperatures reaching approximately 1.55°C above pre-industrial levels. This marks the first time a calendar year has exceeded 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, highlighting the urgent need for climate action. The past ten years (2015-2024) were also confirmed as the warmest decade on record.
